- Quote/Lyrics: 'How are you suppose to get over someone when you have to be around them all the time?' --JD Scrubs
Hell Yeah work has been going fine...knowing my work though I will be getting pulled up for something soon. That’s not me being all ‘doom and gloom’ but a hard cold reality fact.
For some reason when someone is getting on well and doing pretty good and really just getting on with thing the management seem to find something to pull ‘em up for. It’s not just what they pull them up for but usually they are pretty brutal about it...I mean really wholeheartly brutal! They keep lists of stuff (sometimes weeks old) that people have done wrong and then pile all of it on them. Half of it is pointless and out of date and teaches nothing.
I don’t know why management do this. It’s as if they don’t want you getting above your station or something and no one where I work have that thought in mind...management push us to take on more responsibility and take ownership for our department but start to show you can do the job and your confidence is at an all time high they will jump all over you and knock you down.
It’s odd how they encourage staff to go into management but then turn round and treat you like you can’t do the job you’re doing now so how do they really expect people to believe they can be management?
I so badly do not ever want to be like them but in the place where I work it seems to just happen over time...the current supervisor is showing signs of being like that...he used to be such and easy going guy but that’s sliding...I fear becoming like that...just another reason I will NEVER go into management.
Today I did get pulled up for not making sure something was done...ok, let’s see...
1) That isn’t my job
2) The thing had NOTHING to do with my department
3) I’m not the boss of anyone
4) I wasn’t the only one there...why was it MY mistake?
5) I don’t have time to be chasing after other people and doing their job for them...it's bloody Christmas time for goodness sake!
OK, I do not mind taking on a wee bit more responsibility over my usual duties, I’ve been there a while so don’t mind people coming to me for advice or any kind of help...but I’m not management so it’s not my job to manage people...it’s not my job to chase around and check what anyone has/hasn’t done. The temps I’ll ask them how they are getting on and I’ll even ask the other staff members but it’s not out of management speak it’s just out of courtesy and general interest. But to pull me up for not making sure some things in other departments have been done is out of order...if I’d been asked to oversee it then cool but it wasn’t even mentioned so I had no idea.
I wasn’t mega pulled up...hence the work has been good speak earlier but I did get pissed off for getting pulled up for managements cock-up...I still think that there will be something bigger I’ll be pulled up for...why they don’t just teach as they discover a mistake is beyond me.
